You've probably seen it all over your Instagram lately. The request to turn on notifications, because the chronological timeline, as we know, will disappear. As a viewer, you're thinking "Hell no, I don't want a notification every time someone posts something" and as a publisher you're thinking "I need my followers, I don't want to lose 'em". Here's the thing, no need to worry. Here's why:
1. Instagram has not given a specific date for the announced change.
2. Because Instagram said so:
We're listening and we assure you nothing is changing with your feed right now. We promise to let you know when changes roll out broadly.— Instagram (@instagram) March 28, 2016
An official Instagram statement reads:
“The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.”
3. Just focus on creating quality content and people WILL find you.
Hope that helps,
